greatest.

April Sound Resort and Country Club - 1000 April Sound Blvd., Montgomery, Texas 77356 - 409-
588-1101 - I was a member at April Sound through my family during high school and beyond. It will
forever be a special place for me because my father died on the 3rd hole. There is a tree dedicated
to him on the left side of the fairway. The course is a treat to play. Most golfers look at the card
and think it is an easy course. To me, it is a very difficult course because of the small, undulating
greens and the design of the holes. There are numerous holes that make it unwise to use a driver.
A straight putt is not to be found on the course. It is also a very pretty course, and is much more
rolling than you would expect so close to Houston. I highly recommend this Club...8 stars (Trey).

Atascocita Country Club - 20114 Pinehurst, Humble, Texas 77346 - 281-852-8115 - This is an
enjoyable course. The design is commendable and the course has always been in good condition
when I have played it. Although the fairways are lined with trees, there is ample room to hit your
driver...7 stars (Trey)

Bay Oaks Country Club - 14545 Bay Oaks Blvd., Houston, Texas 77289 - 281-488-7888 - This is the
best Club in the Clear Lake area. Everything is first rate. The Clubhouse is nice and the course is
enjoyable. You forget you are in Clear Lake and near the Bay with all the trees. The design is
highly commendable and the course is always in great condition. This is one of my favorite
courses to play in Houston...9 stars (Trey).

Baywood Country Club - 5500 Genoa, Pasadena, Texas 77505 - 281-487-0050 - not played.

Bentwater Country Club - 800 Bentwater Dr., Montgomery, Texas 77356 - 281-353-1912 - I have
only played the Weiskoff course, designed by legendary Tom Weiskoff, but I can safely rank
Bentwater as my favorite Greater Houston club. Both courses have beautiful views of Lake Conroe
and are in immaculate shape. No bad lies at Bentwater, and the greens hold well. The Weiskoff
course has plenty of character. The signature hole gives you the option of two fairways to play
from, divided by a small forest of trees. Play the shorter fairway and you have to carry an inlet of
the lake to get to the hole. This is one of the prettiest courses in the Houston area...10 stars (Trey).

Braeburn Country Club - 8181 Bissonnet, Houston, Texas 77040 - 713-774-8788 - I have not played
this course since it was redesigned, but have fond memories of the old design. It has that old
design feel, and a round at Braeburn makes you forget that you are in the middle of a big city. The
course was one of my favorite designs in the city, and the club has an overall good feel...9 stars
(Trey).

Champions Country Club - 13733 Champions Dr., Houston, Texas 77069 - not played.

Columbia Lakes Country Club Resort and Conference Center - 188 Freeman, West Columbia,
Texas 77486 - 409-345-5455 - Columbia Lakes has one of the most enjoyable layouts around. It
used to be my favorite course, but when I played it in 1998 it was in poor shape. The greens were
rock hard. If the course is in good shape, it is a nine star...5 stars (Trey).

Country Place Golf Club - 3123 Flower Field Lane, Pearland, Texas 77584- 713-436-1533 - This
course is fairly simple and short. It can play tough if the wind kicks up...6 stars (Trey).

Deerwood Golf Club - 1717 Forest Garden, Kingwood, Texas - 281-360-1060 - Deerwood was once
its own club but is now part of Kingwood. As a course by itself, Deerwood is better than any of
the three original Kingwood courses. It has plenty of character and demands good shotmaking to
get around the course. Several of the holes affront Lake Houston. The greens hold and putt very
well.

El Dorado Country Club - 7000 N. Belt Dr., Humble, Texas 77338 - 281-458-1010 - I have not played
this course in years but I remember it was an enjoyable layout...6 stars (Trey).

Falcon Point, The Club at - 25403 Falcon Point Dr., Katy, Texas 77494 - 281-392-2582 - This is a
unique, links style course. The bentgrass greens are the best I have played in Houston. I felt
extremely confident in reading the greens, and this is a rarity (This is partly due to my putting
ability). The course can be very difficult, depending on the wind, and you will find plenty of sand
and water. Play this course if you get the chance...8 stars (Trey).

Fort Bend Country Club - 2627 FM 762, Richmond, Texas 77469 - 281-342-8368 - I was a member of
this Club several years ago. The course is well-designed and has a nice country feel. At the time I
was a member, it did not have a sprinkler system and the course was rock hard in the summer. I
gave up my membership due to this frustration. It is, however, a great deal for the price. I was
paying under $100 a month for unlimited play. One feature I did like about the Club was that there
were no tee times...5 stars (Trey).

Galveston Country Club - 14228 Stewart Rd., 14228 Stewart Rd., Galveston, Texas 77550 - 409-737-
9830 - not played.

Golfcrest Country Club - 2509 Country Club Dr., Pearland, Texas 77581 - 281-485-4323 - not played.

Goose Creek Country Club - 5000 Country Club View, Baytown, Texas 77530 - 281-424-5565 - not
played.

Hearthstone Country Club - 7615 Ameswood Dr., Houston, Texas 77095 -281-463-2204 - An
enjoyable layout...6 stars (Trey). The course has been in great shape when I have played
tournaments there, but on two occasions, my golf cart has run out of juice. Maybe they need to
get new batteries...or maybe I should lose some weight....5 stars (Mark).

Houston Country Club - #1 Potomac, Houston, Texas 77057 - 713-465-8381 - not played.

Houston Oaks Golf Club -

Inwood Forest Golf and Country Club - 7602 Antoine, Houston, Texas 77088 - 281-448-0239 - I have
always enjoyed my rounds at Inwood Forest. The course is short, but has character. There are
many holes that tempt you to use a driver but you should probably hit a long iron or 5 wood. The
Clubhouse has rebuilt in the '90's and is set up perfectly for hosting after-tournament parties...7
stars (Trey). A notch above your average public course, but middle of the road as far as private
courses go...5.5 stars (Mark).

Kingwood Country Club - 1700 Lake Kingwood Trail, Kingwood, Texas - 281-358-2171 -
www.kingwoodonline.com - This is a golfer's heaven. There are four great golf courses to play,
and you can eat your lunch overlooking three of them. When you get there, you don't need tee
times for the three older courses, The Marsh, The Forest, and The Island. Kingwood Country Club
is the best buy for the money in the greater Houston Area. Each course is unique, and there are
many holes that are unparallelled anywhere. I have not yet played the newer Tradition, but Tin
Cup, the movie, was filmed there...9 stars (Trey).

Lakeside Country Club - 1200 Wilcrest, Houston, Texas 77042 - 281-497-2228 - not played.

Lakeview Country Club - 1219 Palm, La Marque, Texas 77568 - 409-935-6811 - not played.

Lochinvar Country Club - 2000 Farrell Rd., Houston, Texas 77073 - 281-821-0220 - not played.

Northgate Country Club - 11710 Northgate Forest, Houston, Texas 77068 - 281-440-1223 -
www.northgatecountryclub.com - One of my favorite course designs by Von Hagge and Bruce
Devlin. The course has distinctly different feels as you play the different holes, and the condition
is superb. The clubhouse is also a treat. This would be one of my top choices of clubs to join for
the price...9 stars (Trey).

Panorama Country Club - 73 Greenbriar Dr., Conroe, Texas 77304 - 281-353-9110 - not played.

Pecan Grove Plantation - 3000 Plantation Dr., Richmond, Texas 77469 - 281-432-9649 - A Nice,
community-oriented club that has three nines. The course is long and difficult, but is fair. The
Clubhouse is very nice...8 stars (Trey). I concur with Mr. Henderson that the Clubhouse is a great
looking piece of architecture, and the course is above average...6.5 stars (Mark).

Pine Forest Country Club - 18003 Clay Rd., Houston, Texas 77084 - 281-463-1234 - not played.

Quail Valley Country Club - Missouri City, Texas 77459 - 281-437-8277 - In its heydey, Quail Valley
was a great club. It has two distinctly different courses, La Quinta and El Dorado. The designs are
above-average, but the courses have deteriorated in condition...6 stars (Trey)....8.5 stars (Mark)

Raveneaux Country Club - 19415 Cypress Wood Dr., Spring, Texas 77379 - 281-370-6370 - I
absolutely love this Club and course. The Clubhouse is magnificent and the course design is truly
enjoyable. It has been a while since I played it, but I fondly recall the 9th hole which plays straight
at the grand clubhouse. I highly recommend the club...9 stars (Trey).

River Bend Country Club - 1214 Dulles, Sugar Land, Texas 77478 -281-269-2527 - not played.

River Plantation Country Club - One Country Club Dr., Conroe, Texas 77302 - 409-271-2611 - not
played.

Riverside Country Club - not played.

River Oaks Country Club - 1800 River Oaks Blvd., Houston, Texas 77019 - 713-529-4321 - not
played.

Sienna Plantation - www.siennagolf.com - not yet played.

South Shore Harbor Country Club - 4300 South Shore Blvd., League City, Texas 77573 - 281-334-
0521 - I have not played this course in 15 years, but I do recall enjoying the layout...7 stars (Trey).

Sugar Creek - 2400 Country Club Dr., Sugar Land, Texas 77478 - 77478 - 281-494-9135 -
www.sugarcreekhomes.com - I am partial to this Clubhouse since I had my wedding reception
there. I have always been fond of the course. There are three nines and they are all enjoyable to
play. The condition is always excellent. The course is fairly easy and the Club does an excellent
job catering to members...8 stars (Trey). The only time I played this course, I was in a marathon
golf tournament for Cystic Fibrosis in which we were flying through the holes in an attempt to golf
100 or more holes in one day. And that day was cart path only. Although I played it in a rush, the
layout and condition seemed top-notch...8 stars (Mark).

Sweetwater Country Club - 4400 Palm Royale Dr., Sugar Land, Texas 77479 - 281-980-4653 - The
Clubhouse is one of the best around and they boast two courses. As a whole, the Club is great.
The course design is above-average...8 stars (Trey). I'm biased because I'm a member, but this is
the best value for the money that I found in the City of Houston...well, for my definition of
money....9 stars (Mark).

Texaco Country Club - 12280 Texaco Rd., Houston, Texas 77013 - 713-453-7501 -
www.texacocc.com - not played.

Walden on Lake Conroe - 13101 Walden Rd., Montgomery, Texas 77356 - 409-448-4668 - This is a
very difficult course. The signature hole is a short par three that takes you directly over Lake
Conroe. The design is well-planned and is a tough test of your skills...8 stars (Trey).

Walden on Lake Houston Golf Club - 18100 Walden Forest Dr., Humble, Texas 77346 - 281-852-
3551 - not played.

Weston Lakes Country Club - 5627 Weston Lakes Blvd., Fulshear, Texas 77441 - 281-346-1227 -
not played.

Westwood Country Club - 8888 Country Creek Dr., Houston, Texas 77036 - 713-774-3011 - This is
my home course, so I have to give it a good review. The Club is truly a players club and has many
avid golfers. The course design is very unique, and features small, well-guarded greens. The
greens putt smooth and fast, but it is almost impossible to get a straight putt due to the
undulations. Part of the course was built in 1928, and you can get the feel of a mature, yet well-
kept, course. The area surrounding the course has deteriorated over the years, but the Club itself
is thriving. My chief complaint about the course is scoring. It is a deceivingly difficult course...8
stars (Trey). For a lesser golfer like me, this course is extremely challenging. It's usually in pretty
good condition, better than most public courses and average for the other private courses I've
played...5.75 stars (Mark).

Willow Creek Golf Club - 24525 Northcrest Dr., Spring, Texas 77383 - 281-376-4061 - A tough test
with tree-lined fairways. The course is challenging, yet fair, and the design is above-average. The
greens were in great shape the time I played it...8 stars (Trey).

Willow Fork Country Club - 21055 Westheimer Parkway, Katy, Texas 77440 - 281-579-6262 - The
course is a links style course and can be diffcult in the wind...7 stars (Trey).

Willowisp Country Club - 14502 Fondren, Missouri City, Texas 77489 - 281-437-8210 - I learned to
play golf at Willowisp. It features a nice design and has always been in good shape...7 stars
(Trey).

Woodlands Resort and Country Club - 2301 S. Millbend, The Woodlands, Texas 77380 - 281-367-
7285 - This Club has many great courses to choose from. I have only played the TPC, but I have
seen the others. The Club has many great amenities to offer, and the signature trees are plenty.
The courses always appear to be in great shape and the greens are fast. This is a great club to
belong to...9 stars (Trey).
