The Houston Critics Review:
If you want really great Chinese/Vietnamese food, Kim Son is for
you. One of the great immigrant rags-to-riches stories in Houston, the owners of Kim Son have gone from one small restaurant to three locations and plans for several more. They bacame so popular with the lunch crowd downtown that they had to expand to the suburbs as well. This is no small feat given all of the Chinese and Vietnamese restaurants in the Greater Houston Area.
Pretty much everything is good at Kim Son, and the portions are
generous. Kim Son offers an affordable lunch menu and an expanded dinner menu. Trey has not tried a dish that he does not like. All of the chicken dishes are made with tender chicken breasts, a nice change from some of the mystery meat you get at other Chinese restaurants. The Kung Pao Chicken is a spicy blend of chicken, peanuts and vegetables. If you catch the dish on a spicy day, you might be in tears. The Beef and Broccoli is excellent as well.
For the health nuts, Kim Son has a variety of heart and healthy
dishes. They are famous for their Spring Rolls, which are like their egg rolls but not fried. The regular egg rolls are fantastic, and the soups are very good. |
